This evolution comes as part of Spotify’s ongoing commitment to align with how people’s listening behaviours are changing. While Spotify has become even more central in many lives, we recognise that one size doesn’t fit all — so South Africa will now see choices tailored to different needs and budgets.
Introducing Premium Platinum: A Next‑Level Experience
Premium Platinum is built for the music fans who want the very best. Key features include:
- Lossless audio: Listeners will experience tracks in full fidelity, up to 24‑bit / 44.1 kHz FLAC, delivering richer, more detailed sound.
- Third‑Party DJ integration and mixing tools: Giving listeners more creative control over their listening experience.
- Long‑standing favourites like Jam and Daylist playlists, now further enhanced for Platinum users.
- Audiobooks: Eligible subscribers will receive 12 hours of included listening time, with the option to top up in 10‑hour increments. At launch, users will have access to more than 150,000 English‑language titles, complete with automatic bookmarking, Sleep Timer and personalised discovery features.
Why This Portfolio Works
Our insights show that while music remains central, the way people listen, invest and engage varies. Some listeners are focused on value; others seek premium tools and sound quality. This tiered portfolio allows Spotify to better match those different needs — with a local strategy suited to South Africa’s market.
What’s Next
The pilot rollout begins now in South Africa, and we’ll closely monitor feedback and engagement. We’re excited to hear how users respond and will refine accordingly. More details on pricing, exact availability dates and terms will be shared on Spotify.co.za and in‑app in the coming weeks.
