TECNO’s affordable SPARK 10 5G midrange smartphone offers excellent value for discerning smartphone buyers. It measures in at a very easily gripable 164.37 x 75.45 x 8.40 mm while coming in an eye-catching rectangular pattern finish on the back cover (transparent cover included in the retail package). The front of the design is more standard slab fair but the centrepiece, namely its 6.6HD+ (720×1612) panel does present a fairly good amount of detail and colour. Also, mobile gamers will like the fact that is allows for a 90Hz refresh rate making gameplay on the go notably smoother. The only slight distraction from the viewing experience on offer will be the slightly bigger bezels around said display compared to the competition.

Also keeping things smoother and snappy while navigating Android 13 with HiOS on top of it, multitasking or running apps is a Dimensity 6020 Octa-Core CPU paired with 8GB RAM (4GB Extended RAM). In terms of optics, you get a 50MP rear camera that offers a pro mode allowing users to manually adjust settings such as aperture, white balance and shutter speed to bring out the best in their photography skills, or they can let the technology adapt automatically to ensure every photo is vibrant with natural colours and skin tones when capturing memorable moments in your life.

This snapper is complemented by an 8MP selfie camera which features a flashlight with three adjustable brightness levels, ensuring that you can capture the best selfies no matter where you are or the lighting conditions around you. Also onboard is a 5000mAh battery that will get you through a working day and then some, but unfortunately only offers 18W charging which is significantly slower than HUAWEI’s 100W supercharging and other (more expensive) Andriod OEMs with 66W or 83W fast chargers. Quicker than this is the fact that in areas where 5G is on offer, this smartphone actually supports 5G connectivity, though finding said connectivity spot is still quite challenging at the end of 2023.

All in all, TECNO’s SPARK 10 5G offers a lot of spec bang for the bucks, coming in at a recommended retail price of R4800 at which price competitors come from Xiaomi in the form of the Redmi Note 12, and HUAWEI’s nova 11i. It certainly makes a strong case for itself.
