Media monitoring and analysis company Novus Group has launched an app that will deliver media monitoring alerts and content directly to their client’s mobile devices, wherever they are.

The app was developed fully in-house in response to the growing trend of remote working, and will allow agency and corporate clients alike to stay informed and make decisions that could impact their business without having to be in the office.

Novus Group director Joe Hamman said the ability to monitor broadcast, online, print and social media remained a key tool to gain insights into customer behaviour and the effectiveness of a company’s marketing and PR campaigns.

“The launch of the app is the latest step in our journey to evolve media monitoring services in South Africa, and will make it easier for our clients to receive the information they need in a quick and efficient format,” said Hamman.

The app is not a mobile app in the traditional sense, but a progressive web app (PWA). PWA’s open in a mobile device’s browser, but behave like native apps, without the need to access an app store. They also take up less space on a mobile device than traditional mobile apps.

Novus Group is the fastest growing provider of media monitoring and analysis in South Africa, employing more than 90 people to service more than 700 companies in South Africa and across the world.

Media monitoring is a booming industry worldwide, as companies look for ways to respond to the rising adoption of online and social media platforms by their customers. A recent report on the global media monitoring tools market, by Fortune Business Insights, suggests the market will grow from $2.48 billion in 2019 to reach $6.51 billion by 2027.

“We’ve always known there is a better way of doing media monitoring, which provides real insights and actionable information. It’s a sector with huge growth potential, and we’re working to make it relevant to South African audiences, and get the right technology platform and people in place,” said Hamman.
