Chery Northcliff, in partnership with Chery International, has officially handed over the first vehicles from its groundbreaking Chery Super Hybrid (CSH) range to local customers. This milestone marks a significant step toward making advanced, eco-friendly mobility accessible to more South Africans.

This launch comes at a time of remarkable growth for the local automotive market. According to the NAAMSA Automotive Business Council Flash Report, new vehicle sales in July surged by 20.1% year-on-year, a performance not seen since January 2017. Passenger car sales alone reached 36,248 units. Chery played a key role in this growth, contributing 2,160 units. Its Tiggo 4 Cross HEV and Tiggo 7 PHEV range have quickly become the country’s second- and top-selling new energy vehicles in July, respectively. This success confirms that South African drivers are ready for next-generation cars that offer a winning combination of safety, technology, and unbeatable value.

The handover event was attended by Mr. Chen, President of Chery International, underscoring the global importance of the South African market. The celebration follows another major achievement for the local team: Chery Northcliff was recently named Chery International’s Best Dealership in various categories, a powerful testament to South Africa’s growing influence in the global automotive landscape.

“This isn’t just about moving cars, it’s about moving South Africa forward,” said Asheen Dayal, CMO of DigiCars Group. “We’re making aspirational vehicles accessible and empowering customers to make smarter, more sustainable choices without compromising on quality or features.”

Mobility as Freedom

DigiCars Group chose Chery as one of its key OEM partners because the brand offers a unique blend of advanced safety and cutting-edge technology at a price point nearly half that of its automotive competitors.

“For many South Africans, a first car represents freedom,” Dayal added. “Whether it’s getting to work, college, or taking a family member to a clinic, owning a vehicle transforms lives. DigiCars Group is committed to putting that pride and independence within reach for more South Africans, young and old.”

Driving a Brighter Future

DigiCars Group is also tackling the issue of youth unemployment through its internal Cadet Programme. This initiative recruits young people directly from colleges and trains them for long-term, rewarding careers in the motoring sector. Many members of the marketing team that helped organize this event are graduates of this program, proving that DigiCars Group is not just selling cars but also building careers.

The new Chery Super Hybrid range, including the new Tiggo 8 and Tiggo 9 CSH models, is poised to redefine new energy vehicles in South Africa. DigiCars Group is complementing these vehicles with a seamless digital experience, offering everything from online test drives to finance applications and after-sales support focused on fuel efficiency and sustainable driving.

“We don’t just sell the future, we empower South Africans to live sustainably through smarter vehicle ownership,” Dayal concluded.
