LIFT is now well-known for its brand collabs and creative sky-high customer experiences, and together with The Oyster Box Hotel (The Oyster Box), the young airline has done it again, this time serving travellers a sumptuous High Tea in the sky.
LIFT and The Oyster Box partnered to bring a luxurious experience to travellers on yesterday’s 10:00 am Durban to Cape Town flight, and the 15:00 pm Cape Town to Durban leg, as both brands looked to celebrate the local travel and tourism industry and SA moms ahead of Mother’s Day this weekend.
“We’re in the business of travel, and we couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate local tourism while spoiling our Moms onboard, than with this luxurious activation courtesy of our friends at The Oyster Box Hotel.” says Haydn Henning, Brand Manager at LIFT.
All travellers were treated to a mini High Tea experience inspired by the charm and sophistication of The Oyster Box, including cabin trolleys adorned with white tablecloths and vases of fresh flowers. Each traveller on board received a curated Dilmah tea sample box, and a decadent selection of savoury and sweet confections to pair with each brew.
“Our friends at The Oyster Box did not skimp on the spread,” shared Henning. “We’re talking delicate smoked salmon, cucumber and citrus-infused cream cheese finger sandwiches on the hotel’s signature health bread. And, because we love local, Cape Malay-inspired snoek tartlets with sweet apricot chutney.”
“The sweet selection included two of our most popular macarons,” explained Daniel Payne, Executive Chef at The Oyster Box. “The Lighthouse 70% dark chocolate and mint macaron and a white chocolate and raspberry macaron, as well as a High Tea classic, the scone; in this case a miniature scone with clotted cream and homemade strawberry compôte.”
“High Tea at The Oyster Box is an institution, and we’re delighted to bring this beloved tradition to the skies in partnership with LIFT,” said Philisiwe Gumede, General Manager of The Oyster Box. “We can’t wait to welcome LIFT travellers to experience the full Oyster Box treatment at our beautiful beachfront property in Umhlanga.”
“Local is lekker, but a reminder never hurts, and this was a spectacular display of what our country has to offer, with LIFT providing another nod to our excellent local industry offerings while sharing the love with our passengers… and Moms especially, on this occasion,” concludes Henning.
