Kicking off on Friday the 17th, with a short Sunset Scramble, 12km warm-up ride, starting at 4pm.

Riding into a spectacular sunset where Bontebok perfects the picture of white dunes in the background.

Riders pass the stunning new De Mond Lodge situated on the edge of the Vlei, and returns to De Hoop Opstal in a clockwise direction.

Start: 8h30

Distance: 50km

Elevation approximately 850m

Riding the Rock & Ramsar Vlei Cliffhanger:

The Route will showcase the best of MTB trails in the De Hoop Collection.

This year we have a very unique start at the Melkkamer, situated on the furthest edge of the Ramsar Vlei.

This historical Opstal homestead offers a hideaway destination, with two additional Vlei cottages on the island. A truly amazing feature that few travellers know of.

The route will comprise an open gravel road in the beginning, but soon changes to a phenomenal single track hugging the edge of the Vlei.

Riders will listen to the sounds of birdlife, see Eland running across the water’s edge, and experience untamed wildlife.

Keeping riders mostly within boundaries of the reserve, it will include The Eland Trail, and Koppie Alleen before returning home.

Trail to Whales: Potberg to Vaalkrans, and Koppie Alleen

Distance: 62km

Elevation approximately 800m

The route is a tough challenge that includes three steep climbs at The Tar Flatty in the beginning, the Vaalkrans cement climb up to the Ocean view point, and the final climb up to Morokuru beach lodge.

A very special and unique route including a ride through a private wild camp just before Potberg, and stunning ocean views to the left of the De Hoop Nature Reserve.

The weekend’s special activities will include fantastic Old School live music, a BOMA braai around an open fire with sunset views, sundowners on the Deck, wine tasting, and fabulous food and hospitality from De Hoop Collection.

Accommodation and meal packages to be booked directly with De Hoop Collection, which offers a variety of suites, cottages, camping facilities and exclusive lodges.
