Alfa Romeo is once again giving German and Japanese competitors cause for concern as the Italian brand continues to challenge the reliability status quo.

Respected British motoring publication and the UK’s biggest-selling motoring weekly, Auto Express, has announced the results of the Driver Power 2019 brand survey, and Alfa Romeo managed a highly impressive second place in the 2019 manufacturer survey. The Italian car maker landed an overall satisfaction rating of 92.04%, almost usurping Lexus (92.06%) for the top spot.

Moreover, Alfa Romeo scored wins in the engine and gearbox, as well as ride and handling categories, while its Giulia nameplate came in third, for the second year running, in the best cars to own 2019 category. It was also the top-rated car for handling in the entire poll – indicative that Alfa Romeos remain rewarding to drive above simply breaking seldom.

According to Auto Express, Driver Power is the biggest car satisfaction survey undertaken in the United Kingdom. This survey does not only rely on Auto Express readers for their opinions on the dependability, reliability, and build quality of their vehicles, but on the vast audience of the entire Dennis Automotive portfolio, which includes other motoring and lifestyle publications such as Evo Magazine and Carbuyer.co.uk.

“Alfisti, motoring journalists and the general public are well aware of the inherent sportiness, stylish design, and steller performance offered by Alfa Romeo vehicles such as the Giulia and the 2019 AutoTrader SA Car of the Year Finalist- the Stelvio,” says Graham Eagle, CEO of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles South Africa.

“Through owner surveys such as the Driver Power 2019 brand survey, they are also learning of the incredible reliability and dependability that these vehicles offer, by-products of the massive investments we have made in the brand,” he added.

This latest achievement follows on from the respected British publication What Car placing Alfa Romeo and Fiat close to the shining lighthouse of rock solid reliability within its 2018 What Car Reliability Survey.
