Zoho, a global technology company, today launched the South Africa edition of Zoho POS, its modern point-of-sale solution for local retailers. The company also announced 34% year-over-year revenue growth in the country in 2025, reflecting increasing demand for its business software portfolio among organisations of all sizes. The announcements were made on the sidelines of Zoholics South Africa, the company’s annual user conference.

“South Africa remains a strategic growth market for Zoho, and today’s launch reflects our continued investment in helping businesses across the country embrace digital transformation,” said Hyther Nizam, Chief Executive Officer, Middle East and Africa (MEA), Zoho. “As retailers adopt to changing customer expectations, we remain committed to delivering affordable, secure and locally relevant technology that enables businesses to modernise with confidence.”

Designed for retailers of all sizes, Zoho POS is a cloud-based point-of-sale solution that enables businesses to manage billing, inventory, purchases, payments, customer relationships and loyalty programmes from a single system, helping them digitise store operations and improve operational visibility.

“Retailers today need technology that is both powerful and easy to use, enabling them to respond quickly to changing customer expectations while keeping operations running efficiently,” said Andrew Bourne, Regional Head, Zoho South Africa.  “Zoho POS streamlines day-to-day store operations and helps retailers deliver memorable customer experiences through faster checkouts with mobile billing and self-checkout options, and by providing customers with flexible payment methods, such as cash, cards, credit points, and more.

Zoho POS for South Africa

Designed with South African businesses in mind, Zoho POS supports local VAT requirements, allowing businesses to configure applicable tax rates, including the standard VAT rate, zero-rated supplies and tax-exempt items or services wherever applicable. VAT is automatically applied during checkout and reflected across invoices, receipts and sales reports.

Businesses can monitor stock levels, configure reorder points, receive low-stock alerts and raise purchase orders to help maintain optimal inventory levels. They can also synchronise inventory across their online website and physical stores, helping maintain accurate stock levels across sales channels and supporting omnichannel retail operations. The platform also enables retailers to manage multiple stores across provinces through a single system, providing centralised inventory visibility, user access controls, and store-specific performance tracking.

The solution includes native billing applications for Windows and macOS (currently available in early access) devices, with offline functionality that enables retailers to continue processing transactions during network disruptions. During peak trading periods, businesses can also deploy portable billing stations with the Zoho POS mobile billing app available on Google Play and App Store, helping reduce checkout queues.

With functionalities such as price management (currently available in early access), loyalty programs and offer management (currently available in early access), businesses can retain customers and drive repeat purchases. User roles and permissions in the platform provide greater control to the store owner and ensure the right access level is given to the right user across the organization.

Zoho POS works seamlessly with a wide range of retail hardware, including barcode scanners, cash drawers, weighing machines, and customer-facing displays from multiple brands, giving businesses the flexibility to use their preferred hardware rather than being tied to a single vendor ecosystem.

The platform integrates seamlessly with Zoho Books for accounting, Zoho Commerce for ecommerce, allowing retailers to manage both online and physical stores through a unified business ecosystem. Businesses can further extend the platform through API’s, webhooks, Zoho Flow and Zapier, enabling integration with existing business applications and workflows.

Businesses can also extend the capabilities of Zoho POS through AI-powered functionalities with Zoho MCP and Zia agents, enabling them to monitor inventory levels, automate workflows, and perform retail operations through natural-language conversations.

Zoho’s Growth in South Africa

Zoho’s 34% revenue growth in South Africa is being driven by the increasing demand for scalable, unified solutions that are easy to implement. The most popular products driving revenue growth in the country are Zoho One (operating system for business), CRM, and Books (accounting software), Zoho Desk (customer support management) and CRM Plus (customer experience platform). Key sectors contributing to this expansion are IT hardware and IT related services, financial services, retail, manufacturing and professional services in the non IT sector.
