Canon South Africa has officially brought Broadcast, EOS Cinema and Video Service Support in-house at its Centurion facility as part of its regional growth strategy and commitment to building long-term value in the professional imaging sector. This milestone not only aligns with Canon’s global service vision but also signals a bold step in strengthening its role as a trusted partner to South Africa’s film, broadcast and media industries.

Two years ago, Canon brought the Canon Professional Service Centre into its head office at Southdowns Office Park. That move brought expert care and personalised support closer to creators. By extending these capabilities to broadcast and cinema lenses, Canon is positioning Centurion as a specialised hub that serves both South Africa and the wider African market.

For many years, Canon worked alongside Lens Shed in a trusted partnership to offer broadcast lens support services and now extends its gratitude for that collaboration. By consolidating these services in-house, Canon can offer faster turnaround times, direct access to Canon-trained technicians and service capabilities that meet international standards. This assists in reducing costly downtime for production houses and broadcasters.

The new service hub provides custom support for both individual clients and businesses, including warranty repairs, general maintenance and wear-and-tear servicing for Canon EOS Cinema and Broadcast lenses.

South Africa’s film and television industry is widely regarded as one of the most dynamic on the continent, attracting investment and large-scale productions.  The market generated approximately R4.32 billion in 2023 and is projected to reach around R8.15 billion by 2030, growing at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 9.5%. By strengthening local service infrastructure, Canon is directly supporting the industry’s expansion while ensuring professionals have the tools and confidence to deliver world-class content.

“Bringing broadcast and cinema lens services in-house strengthens support for South Africa’s creative professionals and boosts confidence in our portfolio,” says Abri Kriegler. “It also further reinforces our drive to unlock opportunities for future sales and our commitment to support long-term growth across the South African broadcast and cinema sectors.”

Looking ahead, Canon plans to continue investing in local service capabilities, training and resources, with the goal of providing industry stakeholders with unmatched expertise and reliability. This dedication supports Canon’s broader mission: to empower creative professionals and position South Africa as a leading destination for high-quality film and broadcast production.
