Sony successfully concluded its groundbreaking Alpha Femme event, establishing a new standard for empowering female creators in the imaging and content creation industries. The three-day gathering, held from 19-21 September, delivered on its promise to educate, connect and inspire women through practical skill-building and meaningful industry connections.
Alpha Femme brought together leading female photographers, filmmakers and content creators in a carefully curated programme designed to address both creative and business development needs. The event’s success lies in its comprehensive approach, combining hands-on workshops with collaborative experiences that foster genuine professional relationships within the creative community.
Industry leadership meets creative community
The programme featured industry-leading professionals sharing expertise across critical areas of creative business development. Financial management for creatives was addressed by Kayla, whose practical insights equipped attendees with essential money management skills. Nelisiwe Mwase delivered strategic guidance on building and growing brands through social media platforms, whilst acclaimed wildlife photographer Karolina Noree shared technical principles and approaches that define exceptional nature photography.
Fathima Nakooda’s session on the business of content creation provided crucial insights into running sustainable creative enterprises, complemented by Saadiya’s exploration of brand collaboration and the strategic role of creatives in partnership development.
“Alpha Femme represents Sony’s unwavering commitment to championing female talent in the creative industries,” said Jobin Joejoe, Managing Director of Sony Middle East and Africa. “We’re witnessing a powerful shift in the creative landscape, and this initiative creates the platform these talented women deserve whilst fostering a supportive community that will continue growing long after the event concludes.”
The atmosphere throughout the three days buzzed with collaboration over competition, mentorship over gatekeeping. From sunrise shoots to late-night networking sessions, there was something electric about watching women lift each other up whilst building their professional capabilities.
Building networks that last
For female content creators, Alpha Femme delivered exactly what the industry needed – practical tools wrapped in genuine community spirit. Participants didn’t just learn about financial planning or social media strategy; they formed authentic connections that will outlast any workshop notes. The event created tangible opportunities for collaboration whilst celebrating the unique perspectives women bring to visual storytelling.
“Alpha Femme reminded me why I fell in love with photography in the first place, whilst giving me the business tools to make it sustainable,” shared Nelisiwe Mwase, whose social media expertise had everyone frantically taking notes. “The combination of technical skills and business acumen, delivered in such a supportive environment, has equipped me with a comprehensive toolkit for the next chapter of my career.”
With female voices increasingly shaping visual culture, Sony’s investment in creators like those at Alpha Femme feels both timely and necessary. The event proved that supporting female talent creates ripple effects that strengthen the entire creative community.
The future of visual storytelling is being written by voices that were once sidelined, and Sony has made it clear they’re backing the authors.
