Asus’s ExpertBook B7 Flip is an enterprise-level laptop that’s been designed for business professionals and is a great addition for hybrid workers working remotely and have to hit the road for sales pitches and new business meetings. It might not pack the most exciting or eye-catching design (common for enterprise class notebooks that put function over design form), but does boast a 360°-flippable design that removes any limitations on how you work, toughened up shell, and enterprise-grade security to protect corporate data.
Moving the laptop around in search of the best Wi-Fi signal or simply quietest spot to take video calls from at home is no issue at all with this portable (32 x 23.42 x 1.89 cm; 1.44 kg) notebook PC. On that topic, the bang average 720p HD camera with IR function to support Windows Hello can do the job but we wished Asus would have moved on to a full HD camera which is becoming a thing in the hybrid working era where video calls is the norm for most meetings.
When it comes to typing and creating media, the backlit chiclet keyboard works well and offers 1.5mm key-travel and as an added bonus is spill-resistant so you don’t have to worry too much about your breakfast juice or coffee taking your laptop out in the mornings. Also impressive is the amount of ports and connections being catered to and these includes two USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A ports, a mini Display Port, a HDMI 2.0b, a micro HDMI, a 3.5mm Combo Audio Jack, and two Thunderbolt 4 slots supports display / power delivery, along with a Smart card reader.
Performance on this Windows 10 powered laptop (free Windows 11 update available upon first boot up) is kept brisk and smooth thanks to a 1TB M.2 NVMe PCIe 3.0 SSD, 16GB DDR4 RAM, Intel Iris Xᵉ Graphics, and Intel’s Core i7-1195G7 processor clocked at 2.9 GHz (12M Cache, boost up to 5.0 GHz, 4 cores). Despite this snappy performance, you can still get through a working day thanks to the laptop’s 63WHrs, 3S1P, 3-cell Li-ion battery.
Iris Xᵉ Graphics ensures crisp visuals while consuming media via the notebook PC’s 14″ WUXGA (1920 x 1200) 16:10 aspect ratio touch screen that is usable outdoors thanks to the display featuring anti-glare technology and being LED backlit that is bright enough (500nits) while covering 100% of the sRGB colour spectrum and supporting stylus input (Windows Ink, unfortunately no included stylus this time like on the B3 Flip we also tested recently).
Like with the B3 Flip, all of this comes at a cost though and for the Asus ExpertBook B7 Flip that recommended retail price tag comes to R29,499, meaning it is most likely going to be assigned to employees whose title has a manager in it.
