The WD_Black P10 game drive enables both PC and console gamers to access snappy storage for all of their games. This highly portable (measures in at around 12 x 9 x 2 cm; weighs about 235 g) 2.5″ HDD is quite fetching in black and is compatible with computers, Xbox One, as well as the PlayStation 4. It offers quick transfer speeds of up to 130 MB/s via USB 3.0 and is USB Bus powered too so there’s no need for another cable for power. The sturdy case feels very robust, but needing to return our review unit and for the sake of the next reviewer, we did not subject it to a drop test.:)
During synthetic testing through CrystalDiskMark 6.0.2, we obtained sequential read figures of 130 MB/s and 125 MB/s for writes. This combination of space and speed makes it ideal for gamers, designers, video editors, or 3D animators who need performance on the go.
All of this comes at a price though, with the recommended retail price being R2600. This is worth it for gamers who have powerful laptops with limited space that need to take their games with them wherever they go.
