By Greig Smith, CEO of Saongroup Africa
Our expert team of data insights specialists recently released the 2nd Pnet Job Market Trends Report. We launched this report earlier in the year in response to customer demand for industry insights and trends relating to the South African job market. We’ve received excellent feedback from the market already, and we will continue to share the Job Market Trends Report on a quarterly basis.
The Pnet Job Market Trends Report provides insights into recruitment and employment trends in South Africa. The report is based on empirical data sourced from Saongroup South Africa’s online recruitment platforms, which currently hold a combined database of over 8 million registered users.
In the latest report, our research reveals that the number of vacancies in the local job market continued to increase during the second quarter of 2022. Year-on-year, the number of vacancies increased by 23% between Q2:2021 and Q2:2022. This increase in hiring activity is encouraging to see amid the current socio-economic challenges that South Africa is facing.
The report also sheds light on which job sectors are growing more rapidly than others in terms of demand for labour and take a closer look at market-related salaries that professionals within these sectors can expect.
I’d love to hear what you think of the report, in terms of the data insights that are useful for your business and what you’d like to see more of. Please feel free to share your feedback in the comments section!
